The ACO (Automobile Club de l'ouest) has announced in Le Mans on Friday morning that ORECA and Ligier will be the new suppliers of LMP2 chassis from 2028 to 2032.
The announcement comes after the tender process for both chassis and powertrains in the next-gen LMP2s opened in March, with potential manufacturers able to bid their intentions to produce the cars.
Gibson will also produce the powertrains to go with these two chassis. The LMP2 cars will feature in ACO sanctioned events, including the ELMS (European Le Mans Series), ALMS (Asian Le Mans Series) and at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The new gen cars will also be used in IMSA.
Tatuus, Lola and Podium Engineering are understood to have made bids in the tender process, but were ultimately not selected. Surprisingly, Multimatic nor Dallara submitted a bid for the 2028 class.
This announcement comes alongside a flurry of other announcements from an official press conference held on sit at Le Mans
