After finishing third in this year’s FIA Formula 3 championship, Paul Aron will be joining Trident Motorsport for Formula 2’s final round in Abu Dhabi.

Claiming a race win alongside three podium finishes, Aron’s consistency earned him third in the championship standings, in his rookie season. Although the 19-year-old Estonian will be leaving PREMA Racing behind, he will be looking to continue this form alongside existing Trident driver, Roman Staněk.

Aron announced: “I’m very excited to be on the Formula 2 grid at the end of this year and I’m very grateful to Trident for giving me this opportunity. It will be a big step in my career, Formula 2 is the highest level of junior single seater racing.

Prior to racing in Formula 3, Aron spent a year in the Italian F4 Championship, alongside two rounds of FRECA, finishing all three campaigns in an impressive third-place.

I think getting early experience will be key, it will not be an easy weekend as I’ve never been in a Formula 2 car […] I’m very excited for the challenge and I’m sure that Trident will help me do the best job possible.

The news also brings the announcement that Clément Novalak’s long-term partnership with the team has come to an end.

Team Manager, Giacomo Ricci noted:

We can't wait to start working with Paul, who will replace Clément Novalak. As he has long been part of the Trident Motorsport family, we wish the Frenchman the best for his future endeavours."
