Freddie Slater (Andretti)
While Freddie Slater may seem like an obvious choice, he is arguably one of the most talented youngsters along the Road to Formula 1 today. His recent success in Italian F4 and the Formula Regional European Championship (FRECA) has left many believing that he has the potential to make it into the upper echelons of motorsport.
Slater’s decision to participate in the test also speaks volumes of younger drivers considering options outside of the traditional Formula One ladder. It will also be interesting to see how Slater compares to the other current or former Formula 3 drivers taking part in the test.
Callum Voisin (Andretti)
The last time Callum Voisin tested a Formula E car was at Cupra Kiro, during the 2025 Berlin Rookie Test. As such, it will be interesting to see how he performs at one of the top teams in the sport today.
Voisin finished fourth in the Rookie Test in Berlin, and will likely be looking to improve on that result.
The young Briton has recently moved away from the conventional single-seater route, instead opting to compete in the Asian Le Mans Series and Porsche Carrera Cup. One of the most interesting factors to consider will be how this career change could affect his performance in the test.
Voisin moving towards Formula E and other Porsche-affiliated series would also keep him in the frame for a potential seat in the championship for the upcoming Gen4 era, with the German manufacturer bringing out a second works team from Season 13.
Victor Martins (Nissan)
Ex- Formula 2 driver Victor Martins will once again team up with Nissan and will be one to watch, following his move to Alpine in the World Endurance Championship. In a similar case to Voisin, Martins last trialled the Formula E car when he was competing in single-seater racing, driving in the Berlin Rookie Test back in 2023.
Martins has had a very well-respected yet diverse career, having tested a wide variety of cars, and he would now be able to add the Gen3 Evo Formula E car to his repertoire after the Madrid Rookie Test.
Much like Voisin, Martins could be in the frame for a full-time Formula E seat for the Gen4 era, should there be an opportunity at Nissan, or anywhere else on the grid for Season 13.

Joshua Dürksen (Citroën Racing)
Joshua Dürksen is one of the most-watched drivers in Formula 2 currently, having moved from AIX Racing to reigning champions Invicta Racing, and the Mercedes Development Driver’s participation in the Formula E Rookie Test is very highly anticipated. Dürksen will be driving for newcomers Citroën alongside rookie test driver Théo Pourchaire.
Dürksen has made history in F2 by becoming the first Paraguayan to get a podium and a win in the series. So far in 2026, Dürksen has already won the Sprint Race in Melbourne and will surely be looking to prove himself in the Rookie Test, in his maiden Formula E appearance.
Bryce Aron (Jaguar)
Bryce Aron will be getting his first taste of Formula E on March 22, and is the only driver partaking in the test who is currently competing full-time in the IndyCar ladder. The American finished ninth in his second Indy NXT campaign for Chip Ganassi Racing in 2025, as he looks to build on this finish in his third season in the series.
He will certainly be one to watch as he brings in a perspective and experience that very few of the other drivers will have. This could mean the difference between a spot in the top five or top 15.
The Rookie Test will take place across two sessions on Sunday, March 22. A three-hour session in the morning kicks off at 09:00 CET, with the afternoon session from 14:00 CET to 17:00 CET.
