Marcus Armstrong will return to Meyer Shank Racing (MSR)’s No.66 Honda for the 2026 IndyCar season, the team has confirmed.

Since making the switch from Chip Ganassi Racing to the team’s new-for-2025 technical allies in MSR last season, Armstrong has emerged as one of the series’ standout performers. He currently sits ninth in the standings with two races remaining in 2025.

“I’m very pleased and grateful to be back with Meyer Shank Racing and my crew for 2026,” Armstrong said. “The professionalism and attention to detail is a benchmark throughout the field and we have certainly improved with time together which has been great. We’ll look to build on our momentum and work hard to climb the points standings.”

Armstrong finished 14th in the standings in his first full season with CGR in 2024 - only running road and street courses as a rookie in 2023 - and has continued an upwards trajectory, tracking for a first career top-10 championship finish as things stand.

His consistency has been standout this season, with 10 top-10 results in 15 races. He achieved his second career podium in Race 2 at Iowa Speedway last month - his first rostrum visit on an oval as he continues to impress with his all-round craft.

“We’re thrilled to have Marcus back for 2026,” said team co-owner Mike Shank. “He’s really grown a lot this season and we’re seeing that in his results as the season has gone on. His performance this year has shown that he has all the tools to fight at the front. We’re excited to continue building on this progress together.”

The addition of Armstrong has allowed MSR to fight at the front of the field on more fronts than one for the first time in the team’s four-year history of running with two cars.

With Felix Rosenqvist currently seventh in points in his second year with the team - six points clear of Armstrong - MSR are tracking for a first-ever double-top-10 finish in the championship. Simon Pagenaud was 15th and Hélio Castroneves 18th in the only other season the organisation has completed the season with the same two drivers.

The extension of Armstrong’s contract means one of IndyCar’s most highly-touted seats - particularly given the CGR relationship - and highly-rated possible free agents is off the market. And with Rosenqvist on a multi-year deal, this brings crucial continuity.
