Nyck de Vries wrapped up a rollercoaster second season with Mahindra Racing on a high, delivering back-to-back podiums in London to secure eighth in the drivers’ standings and help his team finish fourth overall.

Despite mid-season struggles and missing two rounds, De Vries proved his talent with a strong finish. Will this serve as good momentum for an exciting return in Season 12 of Formula E?

De Vries started his second season with Mahindra Racing by scoring points in three consecutive races. Despite difficulties in Rounds 4 and 5 ( Jeddah and Miami respectively), he returned to the podium in Saturday's race in Monaco and finished fifth on Sunday.

The real setback came in Tokyo. From the Japanese weekend onwards, De Vries failed to finish in the points, with the exception of Round 10 in Shanghai where he scored just four points. His misfortune was compounded by the fact that he was absent from Berlin due to commitments with the World Endurance Championship (WEC),and  he arrived at Round 15 in London 13th in the drivers' standings with 56 points.

But the British weekend was a success: De Vries crossed the finish line in second place at the end of both races, finishing the season in eighth place in the drivers' championship. In summarising the last weekend of the electric calendar, De Vries highlighted how decisive it was to face a driver like Nick Cassidy on his best weekend of the year.

“It was certainly a very challenging race. Obviously Nick [Cassidy] didn’t want to get too down on energy versus everyone behind, so he was making sure he stayed on the same energy as us and that resulted in a little bit of a concertina effect behind us.”

In addition to gaining five positions in the drivers' championship, De Vries contributed to an excellent team result, as Mahindra managed to finish the season in fourth place.

“I’m very pleased to bring home another podium and give P4 to our team, because they’ve done an incredible job,” he said. “To consider that last year we qualified last on merit, and we’ve come back from such a long way - finishing fourth in the championship here this year is a great effort, so I’m very proud of everyone at Mahindra.”

Although Mahindra showed good pace in qualifying throughout the season, they struggled to convert this into points in the races. However, both De Vries and Mahindra finished strongly, hoping to maintain their momentum for Season 12 of Formula E, which starts in Brazil on 6th December 2025.
