The World Endurance Championship's (WEC's) silly season continues, with the incoming Genesis brand announcing their next two drivers for their 2026 program, in Mathys Jaubert and Daniel Juncadella.

Both drivers have been apart of the Genesis Magma Racing (GMR) LMP2 effort in the European Le Mans Series (ELMS) with IDEC Sport, where their No.18 car sits second in the championship, fresh off a win in Silverstone.

Together with Jamie Chadwick, they have taken three wins in the series, and now sit just six points off the top heading into the final round of the season in Portugal.

Jaubert and Juncadella join André Lotterer and Luis Felipe “Pipo” Derani in the Genesis line-up, which is expected to stay at a four driver line-up, with two extra drivers joining for longer races such as Le Mans or Qatar.

GMR team principal Cyril Abiteboul said; "We took some risks to look outside of Prototype racing for our Trajectory Program drivers. It is another risk to bring them into our WEC line-up for 2026, but risks can bring rewards as we’ve seen"

Before the LMP2 campaign, none of the GMR ELMS drivers had ever driven a prototype before. However, all three have shown they are up to the task, and are now looking forward to 2026 in the Hypercar category.

In terms of Chadwick, GMR have said; "Jamie Chadwick remains part of the Genesis Magma Racing Trajectory Program. Full details of her plans for 2026 will be announced at a later date."

Both of the newly announced drivers will get their first chance to drive the GMR-001 at a series of upcoming tests alongside Lotterer and Derani, who have both already tested the car.

“I’m really excited to be joining the Genesis Magma Racing WEC line-up,” said Jaubert. “For me, it’s a big step in my career and a chance to measure myself against the best in the world.

"The Trajectory Program and my experience in ELMS have been invaluable, not only in learning the technical side and managing long stints, but also in understanding the teamwork and consistency needed at this level. In the WEC this is even more important, so it’s great to immediately start working with the team at the tests.”

Juncadella said: “The testing we will do this year will be my first real steps in Hypercar. It was cool to see the car for the first time and do the seat fitting, but I’m really looking forward to jumping behind the wheel for the first time and starting to work with the team, André and Pipo to be ready for the first rounds.

"Qatar will be a big event for us, as the first time Genesis Magma Racing will compete in WEC. Le Mans is always a highlight of the year – I’ve done it twice already, but being in the top class will be really special.”

The 20 year-old Jaubert had previously competed in lots of Porsche cup categories in both Europe and Asia, with some respectable success. However, he seems to have found his home at the wheel of a prototype, emerging as one of the young stars to watch from this years ELMS season.

His Spaniard teammate, Juncadella, has a wealth of experience racing in various GT categories across the world, including wins in both the WEC LMGT3 class, and the IMSA GTD Pro class.

Further details on the Genesis line-up for 2026 are set to be announced in the coming months.
