Four-time former world champion Max Verstappen has signed a new deal which will keep him at Red Bull Racing until the end of the 2030 season. This news puts an end to the speculation that the Dutch driver, who has raced with the team in Formula One since 2016, will be departing to join one of the other teams on the grid.
Over the course of his time at the team, Verstappen has set numerous records including becoming the youngest-ever Grand Prix winner at the 2016 Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix. In his time at the team, Verstappen has won 71 Grands Prix, had 131 podium finishes and won four World Drivers' Championship titles. In 2022, the team recorded their first double-championship win since 2013 and in 2023, Verstappen had the most dominant season of his career so far after winning 19 out of 22 races.
Having been at the team for a decade, Verstappen has been an integral influence and driving factor for car development over the years. With leading management figures at Red Bull departing from the team, including the likes of former Team Principal Christian Horner and advisor Helmut Marko, Verstappen's future at the team came under question.
With this new deal, Verstappen reaffirms his commitment to the Red Bull project and its new direction under Team Principal Laurent Mekies. Paired with his teammate Isack Hadjar until the end of the 2026 season, there can be no doubt that this driver line-up will aim to bring the team back to the front.

Looking at their progress and position so far this season, Red Bull still have plenty to work on. Although the team have struggled for performance and with reliability in 2026, failing to win a race in the first 11 rounds of the season, Verstappen's drive to push the team back to the front has not gone unnoticed.
In the team's announcement about the extension, they described the collaboration between Red Bull and Verstappen as "one of the most successful and defining partnerships in F1 history". Mekies, Red Bull's Team Principal, added that: "Since the very beginning, Max has embodied everything that makes Oracle Red Bull Racing special: uncompromising competitiveness, relentless determination and the courage to challenge convention."
Discussing the contract extension, Verstappen made clear that: "The team is like a second family for me and I feel very at home. I came to the team hoping to be able to win races. What we went on to achieve together has been simply lovely and we have shared many incredible moments and won four World Championships." Speaking about the motivation behind the extension, Verstappen outlined that "to continue this journey with the same team that I have been with my whole career is really special and something I have always wanted to do."
With this news arriving head of the driver's home Grand Prix at Zandvoort, and the final edition of the Dutch Grand Prix for the foreseeable future, there's no doubt that he will be hoping to celebrate in front of his home grand with a successful result.
