With Gresini announcing two new riders for the 2027 season, it was no surprise that Álex Márquez was on the hunt for a new home. Just a few days later, it was announced that Márquez will join the KTM factory team, while Pedro Acosta is also set to join the Ducati factory team to ride alongside the other Márquez brother. Additionally, Fabio Diggiantonio will also be joining the team leaving a vacant spot at the VR46 side.

Pedro Acosta

Pedro Acosta has been part of the KTM project since his Moto3 days, where he became the first rider in history to finish on the podium in each of his first four races. In 2022, he progressed to the KTM Ajo team in Moto2, where he claimed the Rookie of the Year title by the end of the season before winning the championship the following year and earning a promotion to the premier class with the factory team.

He finished sixth in the standings in his debut MotoGP season, and despite the issues he faced with his bike in 2025, Acosta gained momentum during the second half of the season, consistently fighting at the front and ultimately finishing fourth in the overall standings. It's understandable why he has been chosen to ride for the Ducati Factory Team for the 2027 season.

Although he has missed a few opportunities to claim his first MotoGP victory, it surely won't be long before he finally gets his hands on the winner's trophy.

Brad Binder

Similar to Acosta, Brad Binder also began his relationship with KTM in Moto3 back in 2015, where he won seven races, secured 20 podiums and claimed one championship before moving to the KTM Ajo team in Moto2 in 2017.

His time with KTM, especially in the premier class, will also be remembered for his victory at the Czech Grand Prix in 2020. The win was particularly special for the team, as it marked KTM's first premier-class victory with the RC16.

His future plans have not yet been confirmed, but an announcement is expected in the coming days as the grid for the upcoming season is close to being finalized.

Incoming riders

On July 6, Márquez was announced as the new factory rider via the KTM press release with no updates on Brad Binder’s future as yet.

Pit Beirer, KTM Motorsports Director, shared via the KTM Press release: '"Together we share a clear objective: to take the KTM RC16 to the next level and fight at the very front of MotoGP.”

A few hours later the team also announced VR46’s Fabio Diggiantonio to be a part of the team.

Brier shared via the announcement piece: “Fabio has clearly made a step to become one of the consistent front-running guys in MotoGP. We cannot question his speed and commitment to delivering the best performance. He is a strong team player and a good guy, that we know will fit easily into our Red Bull KTM Factory Racing project.”

Stay tuned for more updates from the other teams, and don’t miss the upcoming action at the German Grand Prix on 12th of June at 1:00 PM BST.
