Oscar Piastri tops FP2 at home

After an FP1 session that saw Ferrari comfortably ahead, there was surprising unpredictability in FP2, while reliability issues persisted.

Second practice for the Australian Grand Prix was topped by the home hero, Oscar Piastri. The McLaren driver from Melbourne managed a time of 1:19.729, finishing ahead of Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli by 0.214 seconds.

George Russell was P3 in the second Mercedes. The Briton had a shaky start to the session, clipping Arvid Lindblad with his front wing while pulling out of the garage. The two Ferraris of Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc were P4 and P5 after topping FP1.

Max Verstappen could only manage P6 after an eventful session. The four-time world champion’s car came to a halt in the pit lane, causing him to miss half of the session. The Dutchman would later have a scary moment at Turn 11, with a huge snap of oversteer at 125mph, sending him across the gravel.

The second McLaren of Lando Norris only managed P7, ahead of the impressive Racing Bulls rookie of Arvid Lindblad in P8. He was ahead of the sister team’s Isack Hadjar in P9, while Esteban Ocon rounded out the top ten for Haas.

The session was filled with off-track excursions, particularly at Turn 3, where multiple drivers would lock up and run straight on, including Russell, Franco Colapinto, Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc.

Reliability issues also continued to loom: Colapinto momentarily lost drive on the main straight; the Argentine remained on the racing line and was lucky not to be rear ended by Hamilton in what was a near miss. The stewards have noted this incident for investigation.

Cadillac fell short in the session as Sergio Perez missed the majority of the session. The Mexican came out in the final few minutes but was forced to stop his car on track due to a suspected hydraulic failure.

After missing FP1 entirely, Fernando Alonso was able to do some running on track. Both himself and Lance Stroll would achieve only 31 laps combined throughout the session.

Looking ahead

Friday has been filled with headaches and learning for all the teams and drivers. Nobody in the paddock feels that they have optimised their level of battery deployment, and all of the teams are having teething problems with what are the most complex Formula One cars we’ve ever had.

We have learned throughout practice that it is incredibly close between the top four teams of Ferrari, Mercedes, McLaren and Red Bull. Nobody has a clear advantage, and the fight for pole position tomorrow is wide open.

I’m from Bangladesh and came across https://melbet1-bd.com/ while reading a discussion in a local sports forum. Curiosity got the better of me, so I signed up one evening to test the platform. The interface was easy to navigate, even on my phone. My first few rounds didn’t go well, and I almost quit, but I kept going a bit longer. Eventually, a winning streak turned my losses into a small profit. It felt relaxing and casual, and I ended the night feeling pleasantly surprised.

While researching online clubs that offer mobile apps for Pakistani players, I noticed that many discussions focus on everyday usability rather than flashy bonuses. People often talk about how easy it is to switch between slots and live tables in an app, or whether account settings and deposit options are easy to find without digging through menus. In one thread someone described their experience with the Glory Casino app Click here, pointing out how the interface felt organized and responsive even on a mid-range phone. It wasn’t written like advertising—more like a thoughtful observation from someone who had actually spent time exploring the platform.
