Supercars got underway with its second and final practice session ahead of a busy Friday. The session gave teams and drivers a final chance to prepare for the first qualifying session of the weekend, which would precede the newly instated evening race, which offers $50,000 and 50 points to the victor.

As it Happened
The session got off to a frenetic start, with the lead traded between the likes of Broc Feeney, Matt Payne, and Cooper Murray throughout the opening stages. Meanwhile, fellow title contenders Will Brown and Kai Allen made early improvements, smashing out strong initial laps which saw them placed well inside the top 10.
Seven minutes in, Chaz Mostert recorded the fastest lap of the weekend with a 1:19.460.
Thomas Randle was the first to make contact with the barriers, losing the rear of his Tickford racing machine. Randle wasn't the only driver to suffer a close call with the concrete, as title contender Mostert made heavy contact at the outside of Turn 8 whilst on a fast lap.
Turn 8 is infamous for its dangerous nature, having been the location of multiple crashes. With Mostert limping back to the pit lane and his contenders hot on the chase, relief came for the Walkinshaw Andretti United crew as Ryan Wood became the next to claim the top spot with a time of 1:19.409.
Anton De Pasquale continued to show strong pace as he had in Practice 1, shooting up into first position with his time of 1:19.147.
The final five minutes of the session saw much of the grid back out on track for their final qualifying simulations. Feeney became the first driver to break into the 1:18s, setting the bar with a 1:18.983. Allen pipped Feeney with 30-seconds remaining, by just over one-hundredth of a second.
However, the session belonged to Cam Waters yet again, who stormed across the line as the checkered flag came out, closing out the session with a time of 1:18.788.
With Practice 2 done and dusted, the championship's cumulative hour of practice has been brought to a close. With two on-track sessions yet to come and the sky clouding overhead, the weather is sure to add an additional layer of drama to this weekend's season finale.
