After the postponement of the World Endurance Championship (WEC) opener in Qatar earlier in the week, the championship has confirmed today that the pre-season tests scheduled the week before the Qatar 1812km will take place in Imola, starting the 14th of April.
The circuit will open on the 14th and 15th of April (the Tuesday and Wednesday before the main event) for two sessions on each day. The morning sessions will be three and a half hours, while the afternoon sessions will be four and a half hours. The teams will therefore have a total of 16 hours of track time.
There will be a break on Thursday before Free Practice 1 & 2 on Friday, with FP3 and Qualifying on Saturday before the race on Sunday.
The ongoing conflict in the Middle East put a pause on WEC's intentions to open the season at the Lusail International Circuit - as it has done for the last two years. A date has not been revealed for the rescheduled 10 hour race, but the organisers have said it will be in the latter half of the season.
