On July 2nd, Andretti announced that they have re-signed Felipe Drugovich ahead of the GEN4 Formula E era. Drugovich signed for the team ahead of Season 12 after winning the Formula Two Championship in 2022 and serving as Aston Martin's Reserve Driver until 2025.

In Formula E, Drugovich has had very mixed results so far. He failed to score points in the first seven races of Season 12 however in the five races since, he has scored 42 points including two podiums. He was later disqualified from the Sanya E-Prix, losing a second-place finish.
After the news was announced, Roger Griffiths, Andretti Formula E Team Principal, said:
"Establishing a relationship in the form of fitting into the bigger picture was always the plan. When we brought Felipe into the team, we centered our relationship as a long-term commitment from both sides with him playing an important part in our future. He's shown strong speed, great professionalism and has already achieved his first podium in his rookie season, demonstrating his capability of integrating quickly into the team.”
Felipe Drugovich also said:
“I'm very happy to continue this journey with Andretti Formula E. From the moment I joined the team, the goal was always to build something that could carry into the future and I'm excited to be part of the team as we enter the GEN4 era.”
What does Andretti's decision mean for the future?
Andretti are the first team to announce their GEN4 line-up and it may push for other teams to announce theirs as well.
The choice to re-sign Drugovich shows that Andretti have a strong belief in their driver pairing as well as the rookie driver. Out of the three rookies, Drugovich is currently the second placed one and he has shown potential to produce good results.
Jake Dennis has proven that he has the capability to win the title and maybe Drugovich will be a long-time teammate for the Briton as the two seem to work well together and have the ability to secure important points, as seen in the on-track 1-2 finish in Sanya.
Andretti is one of the most notorious names in motorsport but Drugovich doesn't appear to have let that sway him as the the team have given him full trust as Formula E transitions into GEN4.
