As the Monaco double header is well underway, DIVEBOMB had the chance to speak with some Formula E drivers, gaining insight and opinions. One DNF, two Full Course Yellows, and three racing incidents later, Round six concludes.

A chaotic race ensued, with pole sitter Taylor Barnard losing out during pit stops. An additional incident occurred with Pascal Wehrlein, racing wheel to wheel at turn six, leaving the Brit stopped into the wall before reversing and continuing, only to finish in 16th. McLaren teammate Sam Bird faced a tricky race, only making it up to P11, gaining one position throughout the 29 racing laps.

Nissan’s Oliver Rowland extended his championship lead, clinching the lead of the race by lap 12. Perfect strategy from the Nissan man led to a successful race, leaving all the chaos behind them. However, on the other side of the garage, Norman Nato had a difficult race. The Frenchman qualified P18 on the grid, only making it up to P12 by the chequered flag.

Da Costa’s Round 6 was cut short on lap nine, becoming the only DNF in the race, where a fine margin with the barrier at turn 19 proved too tight, where three Gen3 Evo cars didn't fit into one racing line. Furthermore, the Jaguar of Mitch Evans stopped on the track.

The Kiwi later mentioned to DIVEBOMB that he had ‘lost drive down to turn five, and tried to reset whilst the car was still going. However, he had to stop and fully reset it, losing the race, and resulting in a non-finish on the road.

Nyck De Vries made steps up the field, moving up from a successful P4 qualifying to secure P2 throughout the race, with a glimpse of victory following the race leader Rowland. De Vries made Dan Ticktum’s race difficult, proving a tricky overtake, where the Cupra driver had a hindrance from Rowland too in the initial stages of the race, despite a good launch.

“I got a bit cut off [by Oliver Rowland] at the start”, Ticktum told DIVEBOMB, before congratulating his fellow Briton for the win.

Andretti managed to secure a podium finish, with Jake Dennis scoring P3 on the road. However, teammate Nico Mueller experienced energy issues, still managing to finish an impressive P5, having started 14th on the grid.

Many drivers, including Barnard, have expressed the lessons learned from this round, where precision and accuracy make or break race results. It will definitely make for exciting racing when Round seven gets underway on Sunday.
