After two long weeks following the season opener in Buriram, MotoGP returned for an entertaining race weekend in Brazil.
There was plenty of speculation regarding track conditions after a "flooding" incident at the Autodromo Internacional Ayrton Senna went viral online just before the weekend began.
The Friday practice sessions were interrupted several times due to heavy rain. Although there was no flooding, the wet weather forced teams and riders to be highly strategic with their track time. Despite the difficult conditions, Toprak Razgatlıoğlu secured a direct Q2 entry in only his second race as a rookie.
Sprint Round Up
The sprint session was slow to start because of a sudden sinkhole on the track. This caused the initial 35-minute delay to stretch into over an hour, which was far from ideal just one day before the race.
Officials postponed the Moto 2 and Moto 3 qualifying sessions until Sunday morning to ensure the sprint could be completed first.
Marc Márquez quickly moved into P2 by passing Fabio Quartararo, while Fabio Di Giannantonio maintained the lead for much of the session.
Further incidents followed as Johann Zarco and Maverick Viñales crashed out, adding to an earlier fall by Joan Mir in the opening minutes. These incidents continued a pattern of numerous accidents throughout the weekend at the circuit.
Jorge Martín capitalized on a mistake by teammate Marco Bezzecchi to secure P3. Ai Ogura continued an impressive weekend performance by overtaking Quartararo to claim P5.

In the final stages of the battle at the front, Marquez passed Di Giannantonio to secure the sprint victory in Brazil. Jorge Martín joined them on the podium, marking a triumphant return after a grueling year of injuries and recovery.
Race Report
Before the start, Race Direction announced an 8-lap reduction due to track degradation. This brought the total distance for the Brazilian race to 23 laps.
Marco Bezzecchi immediately took the lead at the start and wasted no time widening the gap from the rest of the grid, while his teammate attempted to snatch P3 from Marquez.
However, this order did not last long; the World Champion moved into P2 on Lap 2, and Jack Miller crashed out shortly after.
As seen in the previous race, Pedro Acosta did not shy away from a fight, passing Martín for P4. Meanwhile, the battle for P2 continued between Di Giannantonio and Marquez, while Bezzecchi remained relatively comfortable in the lead.
On lap 4, Francesco Bagnaia continued his progress toward the top 10, while Brad Binder crashed and Martín reclaimed P4.
Martín seized the opportunity to move directly into P2, passing both Márquez and Di Giannantonio to slot in behind his teammate. This ignited a battle for the positions from P2 down to P5, with Acosta refusing to give up the chase.
Bagnaia crashed out on lap 11, followed shortly after by Joan Mir at turn 4. On lap 12, Álex Márquez moved past Acosta while sporting the special Gresini livery commissioned for the Brazilian GP.
Martín established a 1.8-second gap to Bezzecchi while maintaining a one-second lead over the rest of the chasing pack. Further down the order, both Trackhouse riders successfully moved into the top 10.
Márquez and Di Giannantonio continued to exchange the P3 position throughout the final laps of the race. Ultimately, Di Giannantonio held the spot to join the Aprilia riders on the podium.

And of course, rookie Diego Moreira, the sole Brazilian rider on the grid, finished in P13 to secure championship points at his home race.
Be sure to catch the next race at the Circuit of the Americas on March 29th at 8 PM GMT!
