Porsche Penske Motorsport wrapped up the 2025 IMSA SportsCar Championship season with all the GTP championship titles in their hands. It was a successful title defence campaign for the German manufacturer with four wins to its name.
In qualifying, the No.7 car qualified fourth and the championship-leading No.6 car in sixth, with the No.23 Aston Martin Valkyrie of the Heart of Racing separating them.
Porsche had an early scare on the Petit Le Mans race day, with Julien Andlauer needing to be sidelined due to medical reasons. Laurens Vanthoor, who was originally slated for the No. 7 car, ended up driving both the No.6 and No.7 entries.
At the start of the race, Felipe Nasr in the No.7 car moved into the top 3, but it was the No.6 car that spent more time at the front of the field before crossing the line to take third, with the No.7 car finishing in tenth.
The results were enough for Porsche to clinch the manufacturers', drivers', and teams' championships, subject to the official classified results after the post-race inspections.
Porsche members react to back-to-back IMSA GTP titles
Thomas Laudenbach, Porsche Motorsport Vice President, struggled to find the right words to explain his joy. He complimented everyone's contribution and said that he needed some time to fully appreciate the scale of such success.
"I struggle to find the words.
"Sweeping the title pool two years running is simply incredible. I want to pay a huge compliment to everyone involved. I’m immensely proud. Achievements like this don’t come around often, and I’ll need some time to fully appreciate the scale of these successes."
Roger Penske, Founder and Chairman of the Penske Corporation, claimed that the championship is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire Porsche Penske Motorsport team.
"This championship is a testament to the entire Porsche Penske Motorsport team and the hard work and dedication they invest into this program every day.
"The season started with four consecutive victories, including back-to-back 24 Hours of Daytona wins, and has continued into 10 total podiums. That type of success isn’t accomplished without great drivers, leaders and a resilient crew.
"The commitment to winning together has been unwavering, and defending the IMSA SportsCar Championship title is [a] reflection of those efforts from all the men and women across both Mooresville and Germany."

No.6's Matt Campbell was "relieved" that Porsche can call themselves champions of the 2025 IMSA season.
"What a relief!
"We can now call ourselves champions of the 2025 IMSA SportsCar Championship, simply amazing!
"We’ve had a fantastic year. Many thanks to the team, to my friend and teammate Mathieu Jaminet, and to everyone working behind the scenes. It’s a perfect day for our entire crew."
Jaminet has been chasing success like this for over two years. The Frenchman felt the championship was special after missing out on the title on both occasions.
"I’ve been chasing a success like this for over two years.
"In 2023 and 2024, I gave everything I had, but it just wasn’t enough for a championship title, which was frustrating. That makes winning it now feel even more special.
"Doing it alongside my mate Matt Campbell makes it even more memorable. Huge thanks to everyone who played a part in this achievement."

Vanthoor admitted that it was exciting, but stressful to drive both the Porsche 963 cars. The Belgian recounted that he had no room to make mistakes as the No.6 car was fighting for the championship.
"It was exciting and stressful having to drive both cars in the race.
"I’d never driven the No. 6 before, and then I had to take over the Porsche while it was leading. My two teammates in the car were fighting for the crown, so I couldn’t afford to make any mistakes. Everything worked out perfectly: we secured all the titles, so it doesn’t get any better than this."
