The British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) returns this weekend as the grid heads to Snetterton for Rounds 7, 8 and 9 of the 2026 season. Ashley Sutton holds a commanding lead in the standings as we embark on another exciting weekend of action.
Brands Hatch Indy produced spectacular racing, including a weather-affected Race 2, as well as the usual final-race chaos. NAPA Racing UK driver Sutton stormed from fifth to win the Qualifying Race, converting that performance into a Race 1 victory. Árón Taylor-Smith dominated Race 2, showcasing his wet-weather ability aboard his Toyota, while the final Race of the day went the way of VERTU driver Tom Ingram.
The goal this weekend for everyone bar Sutton has to be bridging the gap and clawing points back on the championship leader.
How do you catch Sutton?
Sutton has driven incredibly so far this season, with his consistency pushing him into a commanding championship lead early in the campaign. While he has arguably had fortune on his side in specific situations where others haven’t, he looks remarkably hard to beat in 2026. Ingram sits in a comfortable second place ahead of PMR driver Mikey Doble, but remains a whopping 47 points behind Sutton.
Ingram’s weekend at Brands Hatch started positively after topping Qualifying, but his best result came with a victory in the reverse-grid Race 3. He had to be content with third and fourth in the first two races of the day, somewhat overshadowed by the impressive performances of his team-mate Ricky Collard. It appears that Sutton and Ingram are the class of the field again, leaving an entertaining midfield battle behind them.
However, Ingram has been unable to match Sutton across the two opening weekends and needs a substantial step forward. PMR, WSR and both Toyota outfits have shown solid raw pace but lacked outright consistency; their drivers will look to close the gap this weekend.
As for Sutton and Ingram’s team-mates, they have yet to match the pace shown by the two former champions. Collard, however, enjoyed a highly successful weekend last time out. Dan Cammish sits fifth in the standings, but he will be hoping to unlock the true potential he showed in the opening rounds. Tom Chilton has suffered one of his worst starts to a BTCC campaign, making him one to watch this weekend, while Sam Osborne, Lewis Selby and Nicolas Hamilton will all be eager to add to their points tallies.
The Track

Snetterton is a 2.97-mile (4.78km) long, twisty and challenging circuit featuring 12 corners. With two long straights as well as a mixture of slow, medium and high-speed corners, it is a venue where capturing a perfect setup is vital to achieving a competitive Lap time.
The sweeping left-hander of Brundle, the long right of Coram and the high-commitment Turn 1 at Riches represent key areas where critical chunks of time can be found. There are several clear overtaking opportunities throughout the Lap, ensuring plenty of track action this weekend.
Schedule
Track action begins on Saturday, 23rd May 2026, with the single 40-minute Free Practice session getting underway at 10:30 local time. Qualifying is scheduled for 14:00 local time, quickly followed by the Qualifying Race at 15:05, which will be eight Laps in length.
Race 1 will start at 11:30 local time on Sunday, 24th May 2026, with Race 2 and Race 3 following at 14:30 and 17:20 local time respectively.
There is an extensive support package on the bill this weekend, including British Formula Four, both the MINI Challenge JCW/JCW Sport categories, the MINI Challenge Trophy championship and the Porsche Carrera Cup GB.
