Entering its third season in the LMGT3 class, Ford aims for more World Endurance Championship (WEC) success with some fresh recruits and an updated car.
As the 2026 WEC campaign approaches, Ford is chasing a marked improvement in its fortunes. The Mustang GT3 package showed promise in 2025 and could have achieved better results than the single podium finish, if not for some unlucky occurrences and wrong choices.
The Proton Competition-run entry finished last year with 66 points shared across the No. 77 and 88 entries but had the potential for more. The team’s aim is to establish themselves as a more frequent front-runner, an aim which the upgraded Mustang GT3 Evo will be used for.
The Evo package focused on improving the aerodynamic efficiency, suspension refinements and upgraded Brembo braking hardware.
The revisions — including updates to the front aero surfaces, diffuser and chassis geometry — are designed to enhance stability, tyre management and braking consistency, delivering a more predictable and competitive platform.
This is set to also help deal with the Balance of Performance adjustments that will be made throughout the year.
A revamped line-up with Formula 1 headliner

The team’s driver lineup serves two purposes. Competition and preparation. Logan Sargeant is the headline-grabbing addition to the team, the American making a full-time return to top tier racing after his sacking from the Williams F1 team midway through the 2024 season, having driven the Mustang GT3 at last year’s Bahrain Rookie Test.
The 25-year old is set to be one of the drivers in the line-up for Ford’s debut Hypercar season in 2027. He looks to find his groove again in 2026, in a more forgiving environment in preparation for next year.
“Looking at the season as a whole, I’m aware of the steep learning curve ahead,” said Sargeant. “From mastering the circuits to managing the nuances of Hypercar traffic and WEC regulations.
“However, I have always valued myself as someone who has the ability to adapt quickly. With the experienced team at Ford Racing and Proton and the support of my team-mates, we will be able to give this our best shot!".
The former Williams F1 driver spearheads the No. 88 Mustang’s line-up, paired up alongside the returning Italian duo of Stefano Gattuso and Giammarco Levorato.
As an emerging talent in GT competition and entering his third season with the team, Levorato appears as confident as ever, stating:
"I’m confident we are going to have an incredible season and what better way to start with my home race. The line-up is super strong and I’m happy to have Logan [Sargeant] in the team. Ford Racing and Multimatic have done a great job with the new EVO package for the Ford Mustang GT3 and I can’t wait to get on track."

Then there is Sebastian Priaulx. The Briton who joined Ford for the 2025 IMSA campaign has been also announced as a 2027 Hypercar driver (with Mike Rockenfeller being the third) and will compete the full WEC season for the first time since his previous cooperation with Proton, back in 2022 in a GTE Am Porsche.
Speaking on the upcoming season Priaulx said: “I’m excited to be back in the WEC paddock for a full season and to take on Imola for the first time - it’s a historic, driver’s track I’ve always wanted to experience. It’s early to judge performance, but if we execute well as a team, we’ll be in a good place. I’m looking forward to getting up to speed with WEC racing again and turning some laps.”
He forms the cornerstone of the No. 77 car’s lineup, teaming up with new arrival Eric Powell and Ben Tuck who prepares for his second full WEC campaign.
Tuck, regarded as a dependable and safe pair of hands, embarks on his second season with the Proton-run team, looking to secure his first WEC podium. He especially looks forward to the Imola season opener, stating:
‘’Imola is a lot of fun to drive. Even though it’s technical with chicanes and tight corners, it has a unique flow that only certain tracks have. It’s old school, it’s undulating, you can use the kerbs to your advantage and there’s less issues with track limits because going over the edge of the curb loses you time anyway. When you get into a rhythm in Imola it's so rewarding compared to other tracks! Can you tell I’m excited?"
In total Ford has every ingredient needed for a highly successful 2026. Experience, youth, starpower and continuity. It now falls upon each team member’s shoulder, as to whether they can truly pose a threat to the established powerhouses.
