Four-time Formula One world champion Max Verstappen will aim to compete in this weekends NLS (Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie) events, in order to obtain his GT3 permit according to German media site Auto Motor und Sport.
The Dutchman previously tested a Ferrari 296 GT3 car at the Nürburgring Nordschlife, with aims to compete in the NLS series. These aims seem to be coming into fruition, with Verstappen set to take a theory test on Friday, regarding racing on the 'Green Hell'.
Once he passes said test, he will then be required to complete a set number of clean laps with no penalties under racing conditions in a slower, less powerful car, before he can jump into GT3 machinery.
His sim racing partner, and driver in the GTWC EU effort (pictured above), Chris Lulham has recently completed his license for the Nordschlife, having done a race in a Porsche Cayman GT4 spec car.
Verstappen will likely race in the same Lionspeed GP car Lulham did, completing the required laps and aiming to race in SP9 (GT3) for NLS 9 on the 27th of September.
Both NLS 7/8 and NLS 9 come either side of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, giving Verstappen the perfect opportunity to compete in the all-Nürburgring series.
