Mitch Evans to part ways with Jaguar at the end of Season 12

After a decade of storied history together, Mitch Evans and Jaguar are set to part ways at the end of Season 12. The New Zealander joined the British outfit in their debut season back in 2016, and grown into a regular championship contender over the years.

This decision was made official via a tribute post by the team on Monday evening, ahead of the Berlin E-Prix weekend.

"Thank you, Mitch. From Donington Park in 2015 to a record 15 wins together so far and a decade of racing in between, our final chapter together begins," read the post on Jaguar Racing's Instagram account paying tribute to their longest serving driver.

"At the end of the 2026 season, Mitch and the team will part ways. With eleven races still to go, we’re celebrating an extraordinary journey together — the wins, the memories, the friendships, and the records broken.

"Thank you, Mitch, for your relentless pursuit of perfection and record‑breaking performances, cementing your place in the history books as the most successful Jaguar driver of all time," the post concluded, summing up Evans' time at the team.

Evans has served as a cornerstone of Jaguar's successes in the past, and has grown from a young rookie graduating from the erstwhile GP2 series to a veteran Formula E racer, one who has contended for multiple championships in the series.

He also remains Jaguar's most successful driver in the championship, having scored 15 victories from 132 race starts. Evans has also stood on the podium 36 times, in addition to 10 pole positions and nine fastest laps set.

The Auckland native's Formula E career can be summed up as one of what-could-have-been, as he came close to winning the title in as many as four different seasons. Evans remained in contention in Season 7, before being rear ended off the start at the season finale in Berlin and seeing his hopes evaporate.

Similar title contention bids in Seasons 8 and 9 didn't amount to success, with Evans finishing second in the former, before a multi-car incident in Rome ruled out his chances of taking the title in the latter.

Season 10 would be the closest Evans got to winning a Formula E title for Jaguar, as he wound up only six shy of Pascal Wehrlein, at the season finale in London.

Despite taking two victories in Season 11, Evans ended the season outside the top 10, going through a torrid run of 12 races without scoring a point.

The New Zealander's form has taken a major uptick in Season 12, as he took victory in the Miami E-Prix, before finishing third in Jeddah and second at the inaugural Madrid E-Prix in Jarama. Evans currently sits third in the standings, only a point ahead of teammate António Félix da Costa in the standings.

While Evans hasn't been part of Jaguar's Gen4 testing regimes, he has been slated to leave the team at the end of Season 12, expected to potentially spearhead the new Opel GSE entry entering the series at the end of Season 13. Although, nothing has been confirmed yet by either party.

Evans was delighted to look back at one of Formula E's longest stints with his team.

“To have been with Jaguar TCS Racing right from the beginning and achieved so much success throughout the last ten years in Formula E has been incredible. It has been a memorable experience and there have been so many highlights throughout our journey together, but the time is right to embark on a new challenge for next season," Evans said, speaking on the announcement.

“I am grateful to Jaguar for the opportunity to race for such an iconic brand and will be giving my all to win the Drivers’ World Championship this season while working closely with my team-mate and friend António [Félix da Costa] as we battle for the Teams’ and Manufacturers’ World titles.”

Jaguar team principal Ian James thanked Evans for his contribution to the team's successes, calling him a formidable competitor at the team.

“The partnership between Jaguar TCS Racing and Mitch has been synonymous with the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. Through his huge successes achieved with the team over the course of the past decade, Mitch has cemented his place in Jaguar’s motorsport history," James said.

“Both Mitch and the team have reached this decision together and, with 11  races still remaining in our partnership, we will be doing everything we can at Jaguar TCS Racing to ensure we continue to support Mitch’s efforts in the Drivers’ World Championship, as well as our fight for the Teams’ and Manufacturers’ World Championships.

“Throughout my time in Formula E Mitch has been a formidable competitor and superbly gifted racing driver. His record-breaking number of wins have all been achieved with Jaguar, so on behalf of the whole Jaguar TCS Racing team, I’d like to thank Mitch and wish him all the best for the future,” he concluded.
